@Bib: The 100.14.23 driver is an old version from October 2007 and is not
fitting your hardware.
As you can see from
ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/100.14.23/README/appendix-a.html it
supports GeForce 6*, GeForce 7*, GeForce 8* and Geforce FX cards, but not the

The cause is that both libwacom2 and libwacom9 depend on libwacom-common
in the version identical to the libwacom(number) version.
I assume that you have libwacom2 and libwacom-common installed from a
previous Ubuntu release, or a older version in Jammy that meanwhile has
been superseded.

Not a bug in Ubuntu
You have a foreign package named intel-level-zero-gpu installed that
uses the same file name as one of the files in the Ubuntu-provided
package intel-opencl-icd
It is not possible to install both at the same time (unless you force
the installation with unknown results).

I propose to re-add 'affects update-manager'. There are still several
people trying to upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10 and failing because of this

Marking as 'Fix Released' might be a bit premature:
1. the current 270.29 works only with xserver 1.10.rc2 and will (because
of an ABI change) not work with xserver 1.10.rc3 ( see

@v3g4:
You better create a new bug for the failure with the 10.10 to 11.04 upgrade.
This bug is (as the tilte clearly says) about 10.04 -> 10.10 upgrades failing.

it seems to me that you need the 260 (for natty 270) family of drivers,
not the 96 one.

Alberto's ppa package worked well even on my vintage Geforce2 MX/MX 400 card.
How do we now get a version into the offical package repositories?
Just one remark to Alberto's package contents:
I think the 3 patches in the debian/dkms/patches directory should be removed,
because as far as I can see
@Petr: Some ideas:
1. In several messages about problems with the nVidia driver it is recommended
to add not only
-> Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
but also
-> Option "DisableGLXRootClipping" "True"
to the xorg.conf file
Can you try that?

There is a working version of the dedicated proprietary nvidia-96 driver
