I confirm the bug with Karmic and my i945 chipset. Upgrading to the
latest version of the intel driver (v. 2.10 after much tempering to the
system), did not help.

I notice that Firefox is doing exactly the same thing when displaying
some images, for ex :

The bug is present when the image is resized to fit the screen, but not
when the image is "zoomed".
