Yeah, Mark, this bug is happening in old machines that don't support
OpenGL ES 2.0. I am so regretful of having bought a netbook :(

OK, I've just discovered a way to unlock the touchpad without having to
log out/kill X: switch to a virtual terminal and back to the desktop.
This makes this bug way less annoying for me.
