I think this might be originating from a call to XIChangeProperty() but
I can't yet find any API mismatches between mutter and xserver-xorg-
input-libinput. Although there are new properties upstream, neither of
the packages in Ubuntu support them yet.
If anyone can reproduce one of these crashes

This looks like the first example of Xorg getting stuck on the same
Intel kernel issues as we see with Wayland. Could you try adding a
kernel parameter 'drm.debug=0xff' and reproduce it again? That should
tell us exactly what the "Invalid argument" is.
