The most likely explanation here is that the kernel is not offering 4K as a supported resolution, which you can check by running: grep . /sys/class/drm/*/modes If it's not listed there then you need a higher quality HDMI 2.0 cable. Or even better to use DisplayPort instead. ** Package changed
