Thanks for your advice,I have meet the same issue in virtualbox after the
ubuntu 14.04 kernel update to 116.
After downgrade the gcc to 4.8.4, and reinstall the 116 kernel and
virtualbox 5.2,it work!

Thanks. That is a very helpful screenshot. It appears that only recently
changed widgets/actors are rendered correctly. So this suggests a bug in
mutter's buffer age logic, or the graphics driver.
