Got this bug on installation of fresh Ubuntu 17.10. I selected Russian
keyboard layout on installation. After installation I got both
and convenient keyboard layout switchers.
Here is my /etc/default/keyboard :

XKBMODEL="pc1
At least `gparted` and `synaptic` do not run on default fresh clean
installation of Ubuntu 17.10.

Title:
Unable to launch pkexec'ed ap
I had similar problem with cursor jumping randomly on my Dell E5570 with Ubuntu
16.04, but the solution posted her by Juan Hernandez did not help.
I found out that my Track Stick (stored in the middle of my keyboard) is source
of the problem. When I disabled it the problem just disappeared.

The Nvidia driver 375.66 fixed the window artifact problems, so use that
version to avoid the missing link problem. You can use apt-file search
libcuda.so.1 to find which nvidia driver packages contain the file.

And as standard software installer does not:
a) pass on querries from the package install (so that jackd can be
properly installed for example)
b) does not aler

I have Intel G41 video card...which is recognized by all previous
versions of Ubuntu,,but not recognized by Ubuntu 17.10...though the live
CD version recognize it normally.it appear in system setting/about as
unknown...this leads to very slow and laggy system.
