Since reporting this startup problem i have found out that a manual fsck
solved this problem each time it happened. Each time a series of inodes
was repaired.
However since the last generic update it has not happened again. Hope

As I said in msg #35, after the bios upgrade there was no display in
14.04 anymore. Since then I wiped the 14.04 install. I can reinstall it
if it may be useful.

In the previous LTS version (14.04) this issue didn't occur.
I switched to Ubuntu GNOME because of this issue, the unlock screen works
correctly now. I hope this gives you more information for diagnosing the
problem.

As soon as I plugin the Jabra EVOLVE Headset the mouse pointer is
somehow "captured" by the last active window. I can switch windows via
alt-tab but left clicks in the new window still won't work, they will
only work in the "old" window.
WORKAROUND: Add 50-jabra.conf file in
brunolabs, to clarify, you switched to Ubuntu GNOME in 16.04 where it
works?
