Hi Christopher,
I'm afraid not. This desktop is my main workstation with loads of SDKs
and tools installed. It is a work PC so I cannot switch to a live image
for more than few minutes. The problem is that this takes like 1 or 2
weeks to appear again. Any other suggestion?

I recently installed Ubuntu 14.04.2 and the release notes include "In an
effort to support a wider variety of hardware on an existing LTS
release, the 14.04.2 point release will ship with an updated kernel and
X stack by default. This newer hardware enablement stack will be

I have a fresh install of kubuntu 15.04 and the radeon driver (radeon r9
290) starts in llvmpipe mode, currently I have installed oibaf
repository with the lastest mesa version and the linux kernel 4.0 RC1
and the problem persist.

Back to the OpenSource provided by Ubuntu. Very very buggy:
1) unable to switch smoothly (even with "classic gnome" without Unity) from
on desktop to another ;
2) okular opens small PDF (less than 100 KB, yes 100 kilobyte

sudo apt-get build-dep xorg-server-lts-utopic
That installed a bunch of additional packages. When I executed the
"sudo fakeroot debian/rules binary" command it ran for a few minutes,
spit out thousands
