When shutting down from the above GPU hang using `sudo shutdown`, the
screen starts working and displays the following
[drm:intel_pipe_config_compare] *ERROR* mismatch in
adjusted_mode.crtc_htotal (expected 1712, found 1440)
After which the system hangs and Ctrl-Alt-Del is required to fully shut
I am also having problems with XOrg. Memory consumption goes over 2 Gb
in a day of system uptime. Firefox is the primary application that is
running most of the time.
I am running ubuntu 12.04 . This problem started occuring before a month
or two. I suspect one of the updates broke something. I am
