Spurious mouse events cause double clicks

This seems to be a continuation of bug #550047.
I have a Dell MS111-type USB optical mouse, and when I move the mouse
the curor jumps, and sometimes click-drags.
The output of xev reports multiple ButtonPress/ButtonRelease pairs for
buttons 4, 5 and 6. Example:

downloaded the .deb from https://packages.debian.org/sid/all/xkb-data/download
but gdebi says : État : Erreur : n'est plus fourni xkb-data

Turning on "Force full screen redraws (buffer swap) on repaint" resolved
the flickering - yay! I attached a screen shot of the setting.

Description of the problem:
When power-settings are set to do nothing when lid is closed, my computer most
of the times suspends on shutdown, only shutdown. When lid is opened the
shutdown is continued.

After a durty way (install fglrx, uninstal many times to follow a lot of
tutos !); ther's still no way to instal the last drivers for my Ati HD 4670
(13.1 legacy from AMD). Last try (which "failed" me there...) I've followed

This is essentially the same issue as bug #1360545 but on utopic. On
utopic there are also some kernel backtraces as shown below. The system
was completely unresponsive and I had to actually unplug the displayport
dongle to be able to file this bug report.

Will you ever look into this bug? I reported it in June and it is now
the end of August. I really like Ubuntu Linux and everything you stand
for. I think it is the best Linux distro by far. Just wish I could go
into suspend mode to conserve power. Thanks for any help.
