I have a Denon AVR through which my Kubuntu 13.10 box connects to my TV.
All works well until I decide to switch off my AVR (while leaving
Kubuntu on). When I switch it back on, I get nothing on my display.

No matter which desktop environment I choose (Unity or Gnome Flashback
with no effects), Ubuntu logs into a black screen. I'm assuming this is
an Xorg issue. All packages are updated in trusty. Willing to do debug

Not any longer for me. I've fought with it too long without any true fix
and have since abandoned Ubuntu 12.02 for Linux Mint 13 with zero
problems.
