OK, i know, this bug should be stopped posting to but i could kind of

A PC i am responsible for was crashing with 12.04 and 12.10 every hour
nearly. What solved it for me:
1) Updated to raring ringtail (upcoming 13.04), kernel 3.8.x. (Why is raring
THAT stable right now? It works
oh, and i wonder if instead of breaking xinit for the users that use it
by dropping the dep or demoting xterm to x-terminal-emulator if we could
probably just get away with not shipping it at all on the desktop

There is a workaround for this issue which is to leave one of the
monitors unplugged until after login. It's lame, but it will allow one
to boot and then work within a multi-monitor setup. I get this error
with Intel Video 4000 when driving two monitors via HDMI and VGA
