What would be useful first would the xrandr output for each of the LVDS
/ TV configurations you try - just to verify that the display manager is
doing as commanded. Then a drm.debug=6 (echo 6 >
/sys/modules/drm/parameters/debug) dmesg of that procedure (i.e. enable
debug before starting the display
Odd, the description and the screenshot would indicate that it is a bug
in the flashplugin - as it continues to behave as a swrast it is in full
control of what is presented to X, i.e. there is no diffence inside X
between the controls at the bottom and the video content, it is one and
the same Win

FYI, Ubuntu 12.10 has the same issue with my monitor + HDMI. The freezes
seem to be about 100ms in duration, and occur regularly every 1s. It's
incredibly irritating.

It's a correct error response; the only fix is to somehow teach the
display all the complexities of allowed configurations. Which basically
comes under the banner of "atomic modesetting" which is still a pipe
dream in the X world.
