aforementioned hardware. All went fine other than one totally unrelated
ubiquity bug.
After installing I applied the available updates, I did NOT enable
"proposed", but then it's no longer able to boot into that old (circa
2007) VI

This just happened to me, same thing. Unity keeps crashing and the last
error message is "intel_do_flush_locked failed: Input/output error". The
current mesa version is the latest one available on Precise, same goes
with unity. Should we reopen this bug or file a new one?

because the developers assume the different symptoms represent different
bugs. It's entirely possible that the same bug could affect different

i'm getting suspicious about this issue... i've upgraded memory on my laptop
and i feel that it works better now... i wonder how much memory do you guys

This was reported when weston 0.85 was in the repository.
Since then, weston in the repository have been updated to version 0.95 which
introduced weston-launch.
The update obsoletes this bug report.
So /usr/bin/weston no longer should be suid root. It should not.
