I can't believe that such critical bug/issue, is still causing troubles
I opened a thread in ubuntuforums.org, but nobody has an answer.
Same problem that anybody else: no mouse, no tty, no nothing but a
complete freezed up system.

I guess .udeb packages exist in the repos but not visible as those are
special stripped ditto packages for special use to save ram. The kernel
uses those instead of the more memory consuming .deb
