The crash happened when I was working with the open source driver and
not the proprietary one. It so happened that after restarting the
machine we updated the driver to nvidia-current and later reported the
bug. I guess this is why it is showing both drivers as loaded.

get the phisical buttons working for screen rotation however the screen
