Are other Ubuntu flavors also being impacted? How about Kubuntu, Pinguy
and other desktops such as LXDE, XFCE. Perhaps this can help narrow the

I've just encountered this on my Quantul box; it lost the xserver-xorg-
video-radeon driver (see separate bugs) - so it seems to be doing it
with the FB driver it's dropped back to.
