they pump all the data through unix domain sockets even for the local case.

Apologies if it was unclear, since my little laptopbox is incapable of
Hires movies, I never considered or came across it. For some reason
with Gnome3/XFCE/KDE installed on my lappy the dm was causing me issues
and I couldnt get to a terminal yet with lightdm installed even when
unity

stuff, as suffering the ill effects of brain tumour still :)
With reference to the Display managers, I had kdm running instead of
lightdm running as I prefer it as its more tweakable :) send all flames

Not working on L520 on 12.04.
I tried to manually set the keyboard shortcut adding item to "Custom
shortcuts". Other buttons I can choose. This one not.

When I log out of sessions, a black screen appears before lightdm
appears. I don't know if it's Xorg's, Unity's or lightdm's fault but it
needs to be addressed as it gives an unprofessional look.
Precedure to reporoduce:
The obvious, log out of Unity.

The nvidia-current packages doesn't want to build a kernel module against the
rc3 kernel (I also installed the two linux-header packages):
ERROR (dkms apport): kernel package linux-headers-3.4.0-030400rc3-generic is
not supported

not really sure what's the right component, it doesn't seem to be likely
to be lightdm though since the issue happens before lightdm kicks in to
repaint the display, either something in the session should be done
differently but it seems not specific to one session type or desktop
environment so ma
