There is one difference though: when you enable full screen redraws in
ccsm, the tearing stops – no additional steps are necessary as far as my
experience goes. It does not even seem to be required to force enable
vsync for OpenGl

It seems that this bug is getting worse. I can not use Gnome-Commander
or many other apps because they cause a hang in the GPU. This isn't
killing the computer completely. I don't have to reset the system but it
does cause a momentary system freeze and sometimes compixz/Unity are
unable to recover
Now all's ok. I tried opening VLC and now X works perfectly. Maybe last
upgrades fixed the issue.

I have tested Ubuntu 12.04 beta 2, 10.04.3, 9.04, but all of them
freezes when a player plays a video.
So I tryed Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS and it worked!
I really think problem is not with openchrome but with "libdrm2" or
"libgl1-mesa-dri" or "libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental" or "libgl1-mesa-
glx".

The workaround works nicely to ensure that the touchpad always
functions, but it seems to result in the touchpad being reset so that,
for example, gestures don't emulate mouse clicks, even though I have
them set to; I have to unset and reset the preference in System Settings
to recover the function
I have same problem on a Debian Testing Linux AMD64 for a long time ago.
I use a nvidia card with nouveau driver. But, all backtraces has
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/evdev_drv.so or
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/synaptic_drv.so . Maybe is a keyboard /
mouse fault, not graphic card?

I just filed three more instances of this bug, one with the exact same
result as in this bug (bug 978219) and two bugs (one pair) which are
related to a single 'almost' crash: bug 978221 and bug 978222.

further into the state of becoming fully unusable. This time it was the
'all-decorations-and-controls-gone' kind of crash. Luckily I still had

- My screen started flickering upon opening Google MapsGL, but the GPU seemed

them (including your manually collected dumps), it is always the same -
zero error codes and the WARNING message above. Thinking the latter may
be the most relevant bit.

After installing Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 2 it wont boot. Packages are Updated
today (04/10/2012) in recovery mode .
1st It freezes at splash screen, but in recovery mode woks fine.
