I think that in many cases this bug might just be caused by those two
syndaemon instances running, which would make sense as oneiric made the
switch from lightdm to gdm, and this does not happen on my laptop if I
use gdm (whoch does NOT start i
I found out that when this bug appears, what's actually happens is that
there is a console "hiding" behind the GUI. When I type anything, then
what I am actually typing is an input into the console.
So for instance, when these corruptions appear, and I type the letter
"r" (without pressing ALT-F2

I can confirm that too. I'm using natty on ThinkPad T42 with 1GiB mem
and Radeon 7500. I run modified Ubuntu classic session with compiz.
After startup ubuntu uses 150MiB mem, but after 1h it starts swapping
because all RAM is used. Also closing and opening windows jumps memory

Is the low frame rate only after resume or does the frame rate degrade
even when you have never suspended?

OK, it turns out the desktop tearing fix in bug 880707 is not enough to
also fix this bug. This one seems to mostly be about tearing when
playing video (usually HD) if I'm not mistaken.
