Hmm, from that list only the new linux-image seems likely. And that's
easy enough to prove/disprove - reboot, hold down the left shift to
bring up grub, and boot into a prior kernel version. If it works
properly then, that points to the kernel.

This lasted one day. I don't understand this fault. It is not perfectly

most frustrating problem with ubuntu (/linux/open-source). Something
works in one release, possibly after some effort, and then breaks in the
next. Doubly or triply frustrating when the release is a LTS. It's for

Just as a notice: the described problem can be workaround by doing sleep
(aka standby aka in-memory-suspend) after resuming from hibernation.
I.e. the system is restored from hibernation, the screen is broken (only
the right 1/10 of the screen works). Then press Ctrl+Alt+F2, type your
login, Enter
