If anyone can reproduce this easily, could they please install the
xserver-xorg-video-intel-dbg package and attach the /var/log/Xorg.0.log
from a failed start? This file will become /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old if
the *current* start worked and the previous one didn't.

Hi Fabio,
The latest daily build seems to be working fine, and no issue found. May I know
what actually causes this issue?
Anyway I hope the final version will continue to work fine, and thanks for you
assistance.

Disabling animations in Compiz does not fix this. I think we are
getting false solutions because it is easy to be fooled into thinking
that the problem is fixed because of the behavior of the problem. I'm
pretty sure that the problem is masked due to some sort of caching of
the popup menus (disk
Adding to my previous comment. What I described above was after a new
login. Also in every case when hovering over the menu selection and
sliding right the popup does eventually display when the mouse goes off
the right of the menu.
Having run through all the menus and repeatedly verifying that
Sorry for the string of comments but I've got one more piece of
information. As Roger posted above setting visual effects to none
appears to solve the problem. However that is not the end of it. Using
the Edit menus approach in my previous post I visited some but not all
of the menus while visua

Hello, thank for your reply, the problem it is that i do not have a
second computer for use SSH, i have a old laptop without monitor that
use as server with ubuntu. :-/
I have a PS3 hacked, maybe if project AbestOS can run Linux correctly, I
could to use SSH for view dmesg after crash.
Ps : Sorry
It would be great if ubuntu could stop turning this feature on by
default, especially since there is no way to disable it without messing
with xinput or synclient. Accidentally touching the upper right corner
pastes text and closes tabs. This is really annoying!

Title:
vboxvideo DRI driver crashes Xorg on startup
The breakage was introduced in xorg-server
2:1.9.99.901+git20110131.be3be758-0ubuntu6.
Seems like the vboxvideo DRI driver fails to load and then X crashes
while trying to load a driver from the alternates dir.
A workaround is to just remove /usr/lib/dri/vboxvideo_dri.so
