like these, and Intel offers limited support for bugs we forward
upstream, especially against older versions of the driver like this.

"invalid". What sort of logs are you looking for? The performance data
is that video playback with mplayer on HD videos is unacceptable. I
don't know how to count dropped frames, but I can tell you that playback

Just to report that I bumped into this same bug upgrading from 10.04 to
10.10 with a VAIO VGN-FW31ZJ.
After purging the xserver-xorg-video-nouveau package I was able to start
the upgrade (downloading new packages right now). Will see how the
machine behaves when its finished.

Well actually I didn't reply because I have kept my working 256 driver
which works correctly and I've never tried with the package version to
avoid wasting an hour with driver installation. Since driver version in
the repository is still 260.19.06, I guess nothing would change...

I'm not able to find a comment I added to this bug:maybe I opened (but I
cannot find it) an other with the explanation of what I found: it was
due to an effect (blur) I activated.
