I've had the same infuriating problem for the last few months.
I don't use tvtime any more, but the old version of Kaffeine, 0.8.8.
Recompiling it without HAVE_XTEST
it apparently works (i haven't seen the Shift_L in xev for a while). Let's hope
for the best.

I am now able to reproduce the bug. X seems to crash every time after
the first suspend after starting the system. After that, the crashes no
longer happen.
Although I have been able to reproduce the bug, so far I have failed to
get a backtrace. Gdb just reports "No stack." I did however do an

With Glasen's driver and kde 4.5.3 from kubuntu-ppa the refresh seems

I am also experiencing this bug on an HP z800. I have tried many
different combinations of Nvidia (proprietary) and Xorg versions, all
with no effect. I suspect that Xorg is the victim of a bug in another
process rather that causing the behavior itself.

ah i read it wrong i think.. so more controllers get recognized now..
but the mouse and keyboard is still controlled by them by default.. and
needs several commandline actions to switch the function off.
so hereby requesting a means to set it other way around by default or a
more userfriendly way
I also confirm this - the latest xserver-xorg-video-intel and libdrm2
packages from the Glasen PPA make Kwin's behaviour much more civilized.

I just got the same symptoms - my culprit is an A4Tech wireless
keyboard/mouse combo. As soon as the receiver for it is plugged in, all

I've just updated to 10.10 Maverick Meerkat and the bug is still there,
one slight change/improvement is that where originally I stated:
"Once anything has been typed then the mouse is unable to 'pick up' the

This appears to now be fixed,
