I've tried to reverse to old xorg.conf :
sudo mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.maverick
sudo mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf.dist-upgrade-201010132347 /etc/X11/xorg.conf
It happen to me too, reinstalling nvidia driver didn't change anything.
Every 3-4 mins, screen returns back to login screen even if apps was running.

I'm adding a task for kubuntu-meta because the problem exists only for
kubuntu upgrades and setting it to 'high'. I keep the u-m task open
because it is an upgrade issue but importance to 'low' because it is not
a problem with update-manager.

to it. I dropped to vesa drivers but that is not necessary.
1) Backup /etc/apt/sources.lst and change all instances of "maverick" for

I tried this variable but after it KDE was slower than normally.
Additionally, often fonts in various applications were rendered

I've never used the wobbly windows plugin.
In my experience the amount of open windows determines the performance problem.
No windows and it seems to be working fine, but even 1 window results in a
noticeable frame drop.
And I'm using 5 desktop all packed with windows and virtual machines causing

I also downgraded - I downloaded the amd64 binaries from the above
link and then ran:
sudo dpkg -i nvidia-*.deb
Things look OK after rebooting. I have a Sony Vaio VPCF123FX.

I also have the NVRAM errors in the logs. However I haven't noticed any
problems from it, suspends works perfectly.
Hardware: nVidia quadro nvs 3100m, Lenovo t510 laptop.

Jean,
I just want to let you know that by removing both x11-xkb-utils &
x11-common as suggested in one of the posts, the installation went smoothly
and had no other problems.

Same on eeepc 1005HA, the launcher itself is pretty quick (tooltip,
scroll) but launching apps (foremost files/folder and applications) is
painfully slow

I'm running "Try Ubuntu" off the first RC for MaverickMeerkat 10.10. (I
got the same results after a trial install of the beta.)
- The leftmost few pixels of the display show up on the far right of my
screen. They WRAP.

In ArchLinux i had the same problem, udev really not worked.
I executed /usr/sbin/ConsoleDriver but there was no reaction too, and nw-fermi
was loaded.
I dont know what happened but i changed OS from Arch Linux to Ubuntu
because of this situation with udev & kernel.
