For those of you with Microsoft Digital Media Keyboards the attached
udev rules should quirk Xorg to ignore the problematic extra
joystick/mouse device. It should be copied into /etc/udev/rules.d, and
will require a restart before it will apply.
Note that I haven't been able to test this locally;

What confuses me is that the udev logs all have the correct ID_INPUT_*
tags, i. e. it doesn't misidentify the keyboard as ID_INPUT_MOUSE or

debugging! You can get latest libdrm from the xorg-edgers PPA unless you
want to build it yourself. Maybe you can, together with Andrew, look at
applying Pauli's patch referenced in the upstream bug, or ask if Pauli

devices, and check if you get EV_KEY BTN_* events on any of them when
you press a hotkey on that keyboard?

Compiz automatically falls back to metacity if it is unable to render a
texture for any reason, although the main one is going over the max
texture size. It has done this since early in the lucid cycle. That is
all compiz can do for this problem, for now.

I just bought one of these mice (RAT7), and had the same problem. After
a little digging online and with the system, I've tracked down the
problem and have a permanent fix.
The real problem here is that the mouse has a "mode" button that changes
modes by registering a button click WITHOUT SENDING
@Magnes for the sake of completeness, can you provide the USB ID of this
device ? Thank you!

I FIXED IT!!! Wh
the package was failing on the 2.6.32-24-generic kernel so I installed
the 2.6.32.25.27 one and then removed the failing one and fixedso
far as i can see.

Confirming and setting to medium, Denis-André showed me this problem in
person. Perhaps the workaround in Bug #292331 may help, but it's fdi
file may match other devices so I'd wait to have complete hardware
information before suggesting it.
