Hi,
I downloaded yesterday the Maverick beta iso. I installed it on a USB
key and ran it on my computer. The same bug happened: I experimented an
X freeze some minutes after suspend.
So, if this can be of some help, this bug appeared in Karmic, was
present on Lucid and is now present on the stand

I am still investigating why the click function does not work.
I have compared Xorgs logs with the usbhid driver and the hid-mosart
driver. This points out that,
with generic, the touchscreen is recognized a 'tablet' (absolute axes, etc.)
with mosart, the touchscreen is recognized as 'touchpad'.

At times the mouse stops responding to clicks, or will only be able to

One way that seems to reliably trigger this is to use the keyboard
As this still happens in several occasions and needs a general solution
independent of a single configuration or single buggy
subsystems/applications, I put this to "confirmed" state. If not
appropriate, please give a hint how such general request should be
handled better.

OK, further information: I can trigger it with most of the special keys
on the keyboard--documents, home, favourites, play/pause, mute, zoom
in... The only ones I've so far found that don't do it are five numbered
buttons, and trying to assign those to shortcuts suggests that Ubuntu
doesn't recogni

I installed the NVidia driver by using Ubuntu's jockey app
(automatically popped up by Ubuntu). The next reboot was failed to start
X and I was no longer able to use the laptop. This is an Asus K42JV
laptop with NVidia GT 335M.
As a workaround I deleted the /etc/X11/xorg.conf

I just found out that this was caused by the fglrx packets leftover from
the Lucid installation. After the upgrade they were still present and
caused this bug. Removing all of them and deleting the xorg.conf solves
the problem for me. Is this still an issue (for people who want to

I installed Lubuntu 10.10 and now the problem is that compositing

I've got this bug too with an up to date maverick with or without the
xorg-edgers ppa.
This happens on an AMD64 system with an nvidia (using nouveau drivers) card
(GTX275). Apport-collect data follows.

The problem affects me too, on 10.04 (64bit) and fglrx.

I'm getting the same problem, though when I first install Maverick beta
it works okay apart from not being able to see the mouse cursor. When I
ran the updates hoping that the cursor problem would go, I get this
instead. I don't know if the two bugs are linked in any way?
I am a bit of a newbie so
I did more digging on this one and have determined that the issue is
with VLC itself. I installed VLC 1.1.4 on Windows and I see the same
issue. But after I downgrade to VLC 0.9.9 (Which is equivalent to Ubuntu
Jaunty's VLC version), I do not see the problem. I have opened a forum
topic on VideoLAN
