I've installed the new 2.6.34 kernel and now I had a new xserver crash
directly while waking up from suspend to disk. This crash doesn't happen
every time I use suspend to disk. The error message is slightly
different from last time:

I just upgraded an install to latest 10.04 only to find that X crashes
with a floating point exception in glesx.so.
This is by far the worst bug I've ever seen in a recent Ubuntu LTS

I'm having a similar problem for several months, hitting ctrl+c
sometimes shuts down X and sends me back to gdm logon screen, without
any warning...
However, I dug a little bit the problem on my own, and I could notice the

Well, as reported in the upstream bug, they tend to think that the
cause is in xorg: after hitting any keyboard key another randr event
is fired, so displays get reconfigured and I see the lag + flicker.

As Peter mentions, I have had this bug with no X running, so it may well
be kernel related, rather than xorg specific. I didn't get the freezes
using the ubuntu upstream kernels .34 line, but I can't get ndiswrapper
to work with that kernel, so I can't use it for extended periods.

This problem I encountered when I upgraded from Karmic to Lucid.
As the upgrade was hosed, I tried installing from fresh, rather than
using the upgrade, but it too had the same problem, so I had to
reinstall Karmic from scratch.
This weekend I tried with the latest stable Lucid (using LiveCD "try

perfectly for me. I have a projector screen to the left of my computer.
Neither would be easily moved, so pretending my projector screen was to

The problem seems to be resolved (for me) simply by downgrading the
kernel, at least 2.6.31-22 (from karmic repos) works properly even with
the external monitor. I still use the x-retro driver, maybe it would
work with the official driver too.

Julien, you are neither the original reporter nor have you provided any
evidence that you spotted this specific bug as opposed to some other bug
that has similar symptoms. Please do not reopen bug reports in such a
case. A better approach is to file a new bug and provide detailed

Every time I log in to KDE 4, compositing is suspended. When I
reactivate it, it says it's been suspended by another app. When I

I have read the detailed description of the symptoms of the bug as
originally reported, and I'm pretty sure my bug is exactly the same as
the reporter. I also did have this bug in Jaunty, but not in Karmic, and
then again in Lucid. So, what I said is pretty accurate: the bug that
was fixed
