Adding i915.modeset=1 to the boot line does no help either. 2.6.32-21 and 2.6.31-20 both fails. Recovery mode won't get through either. I'm wondering if I can ever get my old installation back, or should I just use this new installation. But it really feels bad. I should not have chosen to upgrade

I can confirm that 2.6.32-21 freezes X completely. A low resolution flash screen warning about HD check shows a few seconds, then the screen flashes, goes blank and then freezes completely. The only thing to do then is a hard reboot. 2.6.32-20-generic works, but boots slower than before. -- xserv
