I can confirm the these issues on a Savage Twister card, trying out a
fresh installation of the Lucid alpha-3 candidate. First login screen
was a small box in the middle which did not show the whole "screen",
after logging in I was thrown back to login screen which now was fine. I

I use a cordless keyboard & mouse. Once replaced with a corded one, I could
navigate the Live CD to load in "Safe Graphics mode".
