Okay, I think my problem is that the touchpad driver locks the touchpad
"clicked", i.e. it thinks I've clicked-and-held.

i845G is working multi booted with Karmic, Jaunty, Debian, and Slax all
running normally except for Lucid. Lucid originally worked for the

As Philip reported, the "fix" is not satisfactory at all, as it only
emulates 2 fingers recognition whereas the touchpad is actually capable
of multitouch recognition, but behaves as if it was not.

Geir, karmic 2.6.31-16 runs without nomodeset, i.e. KMS on. Karmic runs
normally with default intel xorg and default grub.cfg. Now earlier
karmics from late June thru sometime in August also would fail, but
karmic RC does not have that problem.

Yeah, there's an ABI change for X Server 1.7 in Lucid, so drivers built
for earlier versions won't work there. And unfortunately, I wasn't able
to build version 2.6.3 for Lucid. But I'm going to post my PPA info to
bug 456902, which might be the same issue.

Just tried 2.6.33rc2 from ppa/mainline (see Geir's note above) and it
boots O.K. with "quiet splash" most of the time. It seems to like to

i have a macbook pro 3,1 and a fully updated jaunty 64bit, when i start
chromium an switch to fullscreen and change resolution, then the sound stops to
work, so i have to reboot.
the sound hangs, it sounds like "drdrdrdrdrdrdrdrdrdrdr.." :)
