I just looked up the condition of my terminals (ctrl-alt-f1..f2) and
they are all garbled in bluish tone, but the pattern changes every time
I switch between x and console, first time it's the same kind of blue

today. After "installing" the 185 drivers in the hardware-drivers

I'm getting what appears to be the same thing, except that it's just
redraw areas (in a Flash application) that flicker when updating. Had
the same problem with 9.04, but it went away in earlier Karmic alphas
and only recurred in the last few weeks.

I ran the 9.04 live CD, and the tablet works. I didn't have to install
wacom-tools, and I verified that it was not installed. After setting it
up in the gimp I could even use pressure sensitivity!

There has not been an -ati 6.13.0 release in our timeframe, I'm going

Hrm, this bug report has gotten very confusing and seems to be combining
multiple different issues. I see the upstream bug is now closed, so no

I missed one important information. My comments from 2009-Oct-05
onward correspond to Ubuntu 9.04. I installed Janty(9.04) after
compiling and installing the latest Openchrome using live-
CD(Unetbooting). This is the workaround for the original
bug(installation problem).
I confirmed the results
further info,
while following these steps - cpu usage went from high 80's to mid 20%
click on shutdown button - "indicator-applet-session 0.1"
select shutdown
select shutdown - at this point another window opens to say there is another
application running (unknown)
select cancel.

The title of this bug is unfortunately generic, however it appears there
are several different underlying bugs in the system which produce
similar symptoms (random screen blanks). The particular bug

long since been solved, although the trail through the upstream reports
is a bit tangled. Would you mind re-testing with Karmic and see if the
