Using intel driver did remove the message but not solve the issue at
least for me. It worked great before the latest updates... which makes
me ask if anyone know how to restore the packages to the working
versions?? What packages etc?
Please don't say that we have to wait for a fix to be released

This happens to me with the nvidia, the nv, and the nouveau driver.
Here's another thing I noticed: when I have the issue, xorg is not able to open
the acpid socket:
(WW) Open ACPI failed (/var/run/acpid.socket) (No such file or
directory)
If I log out and log back in, things go back to normal:

I have the same issue with an 8800GT card. Alpha 6, and Beta Live CDs
fail to boot. Screen goes black and then stops outputting to the
monitor.

I`ve temporarily switched to nv, because I was unable to work in such
unstable situation. Should I recheck if something is changed ? Newest
libc update failed to install on my sustem today though. (filed a

Okay, the problem can be solved by reverting to an older version of the
Intel driver. (The Intrepid version)
I followed the guide in this link :

This gave me a decent screen resolution of 1152x864.
