On an up to date Karmic the display works with the xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd
package and only after removing the xserver-xorg-video-radeon package which
makes me think that the bug comes from the ati wrapper driver from the
xserver-xorg-video-ati package. I also wonder why the

[GM45E] i915 graphics corruption and hang
I see this issue on my Asus eeePC 900a. The video card is reported by lspci as
an Intel 945GME.
It appears that the screen goes into DPMS sleep for about 1 second and then
turns back on.
