I see two possible courses of action:
1. Stick with nvidia's old .16, but apply the patches from 398893.
2. Bump to .20.
Both fix compilation and compatibility with kernel 2.6.31; both work for
me. This has been broken for some time, and should be fixed before the

By manually setting radeon.modeset=1 in the grub config file, I was able

I confirm this bug is related to window borders. This bug also occurs in
MyPaint with one exception : When in fullscreen mode (by pressing F11) ,

The 9.8 version installs for me after tweaking dkms:
* Fglrx wants to run as root (needed to edit /usr/bin/dkms to stop it from
doing this;-)
* the installed dkms.conf file runs with bash only, so I had to edit the make
command used there

The problem persists with the new Radeon driver PPA. I strongly suspect
that this problem is not driver-specific.
xrandr --output VGA-0 --scale 0.5x0.5 works as expected
xrandr --scale 0.5x0.5 segfaults.
It should report an error message instead of just crashing.

Ok, I installed mythbuntu 9.04 on a separate partition. After checking
that the problem still exists, I added the ppa mythtv repository and
updated all packages that were available for updating.
However, now neither mythtv-setup or mythfrontend will not start
anymore:
