My patch above was sent to and accepted by the upstream rss-glx author,
so we might consider applying it until we have it through an upstream
release. When it comes to SRU, the rss-glx workaround is trivial,
whereas we might be more cautious about touching the mesa libraries.

I am not surprised it isn't fixed. If you look in Ubuntu's forum, every
time anyone asks about VNC they get attacked with a bunch of people
telling them to use SSH instead. I guess many of the involved people
haven't realized yet that X forwarding or even FreeNX don't have the
same functionalities

What worked for me on Jaunty with 9.8 ATI driver. Go to Catalyst Control
Centre a select Always On for Vertical sync in 3D/Preferences section.
However, when I first tried this the X server froze. Then I updated
(flashed) the motherboard BIOS (Asus M3A78-EM) to the newest revision
and the freezing
i have the same problem, but since kernel 2.6.31-6 & 2.6.31-7.
2.6.31-5 works for me. its a eeepc 701 with intel 915GM chipset.

Well, I wish I could edit my comments. The "SendCoreEvents" "false" does
affect the mouse pointer, but not the mouse wheel nor the mouse buttons.
For instance, joystick button number 3 acts as a right mouse button,

So I can confirm that for Karmic this is fixed with our move to MythTV
0.22 which is QT4 based. QT3 apps might run into this problem still
however. The bug is between mesa and QT3's interactions, but since QT3
is no longer developed would need to be fixed in mesa if it were to be
fixed.
