I have some trouble getting the Xorg.0.log when the system freezes. What
I did was:
1. Boot the live CD
2. Compile the patched openchrome driver and install it
3. Switch to the console
4. /etc/init.d/gdm stop
5. mount /dev/sda1 /var/log
6. /etc/init.d/gdm start
Now the system freezes. After reboo
nothing usefull at hebrew forums, it seems like there is no dvorak users at all

dualhead, and 9.04 to test and if I feel the need to work on only 1
screen!!

I ran your patched kernel for quite some time and it was perfectly
stable. I moved X on to xorg-edgers version because I was curious about
a few other bugs...
I've just been looking into going back a few versions and doing the
testing as you suggest. However my .28 kernel is now
linux-image-2.6.2
Downgrading xorg to the version in Intrepid seems to solve the problem, however
it lead's to a high cpu load. This is what I did:
* apt-get remove 'xserver-*'
* Replaced 'jaunty' by 'intrepid' in /etc/apt/sources.list
* apt-get update
* apt-get install 'xserver-*'
* Restored original /etc/apt/sour
udev-extras was missing for me too. I remember i also had issues with sound in
gnome also related to permissions.
So it was all related after all.
udev-extras should be a Depends somehow.

The PPA package is actually for Jaunty, so you can try it out on the

Using Ubuntu 9.04:
When selecting the Logitech Ultra-X keyboard the XF86AudioMedia is
recognized as such by the Keyboard Shortcuts program, and works.
When selecting the general keyboard (Generic 105-key (Intl) PC), the key

I disagree that this is not a good papercut - if all that is required is
to append gksudo to the front of the launcher for the nvidia-settings -
then this should be done.
And, yes I have read the above comments (8 etc) about superuser access -
