As Jordan mentioned it is very needed to get this bug fixed in the last
long term version 8.04. There are many schools and other LTSP users
working with hardy who affected by this bug. We cannot upgrade as LTSP
still is buggy in versions newer than hardy.

I can reliably reproduce this bug playing railroad tycoon II in wine. It
always happens when it wants to play a video at the start of a scenario.
Note that while I do use Nvidia drivers like the original reporter, I
also reproduced this bug using the nv driver, so can reproduce using an

@bouazza: Yes, I still have crashes, but they're much more infrequent
now (once every 2 days). I did a dist-upgrade after adding the PPA, so
there may have been other packages (most likely mesa) fetched as well.
How are you measuring performance improvement?

Let's try filing against Xorg, see if anyone knows what's going on. I
confirm that, trying the same thing on my own system, all four events

Do you have another graphical environment that you could try testing
this under, to see whether it's KDE specific?

@bouazza: I means that Tux Racer now runs at 25-35 FPS instead of 1-2 in

almost unchanged; but the configuration and the result may depend on your

[i865] Philips 107e screen not detect
Jordi, a crash is what happens when a program performs an illegal
operation and is terminated by the operating system. In your case this
is not what happens, so I have removed the crash tag and changed the
title. What happens (see bottom of the last Xorg.0.log) is that the
driver doesn't detect any
