It would be valuable to have the xorg.log from jaunty as well even
though I realized that would be pretty hard to get. When you have USB
booted into 9.04 jaunty and you see a distorted screen that looks a bit
like Ubuntu running (not the usplash progress bar), is it then possible
to press CTRL-ALT-

I've tried the new 180.60(beta) and its still unstable.
Nvidia seems to have bad support (or blame the problem) on SMP & SLI which I
have.
So I tried using the kernel boot parameters pci=nommconf and noapic.
But its still unstable.

I have desktop effects and Direct Rendering after I switched back to
2.6.28-11-generic with 2.7.1 on board running. So this seems to be
problem with kernel not intel driver itself.

My 24 inch monitor has a native 1920x1200 resolution. I have this bug on

1) no direct rendering, KMS OK, plymouth - text only doesn't look good

1) KDM can't run ... "resolution out of ranges on LCD"

The old Intel 2.4 driver combined with the new kernel updates and script has
fixed all screen tearing issues.
Re installing the old 2.4 driver has also now improved the compiz performance
significantly to almost what i was originally getting with intrepid.

rotation by setting the "Rotate" option in xorg.conf. Since I installed
