It happens more frequently to me when I enable video (eg. youtube), both in
chromium or firefox.
When I ssh-ed from another machine, I could see Xorg was spinning at 100%.
Mine is just a desktop, so I don't think it has anything to do with the
battery.

I have the same problem with my laptop (acer aspire 5542 with an ATI
Radeon HD 4200, using the fglrx driver). It's pretty much random,
although it seems to be more prevalent when using the laptop while
running on battery and playing a flash video.

This isn't just happening in Firefox, it happens with different
applications open; it is not clear what is causing it. I could describe
it as "random", rather than having any particular pattern. I cannot find
a way to reproduce it.
