This is a lengthy bug... but sounds like part of the issue is KDE, part Unity, and both have had separate bugs filed. The part that is xkeyboard-config sounds like it got fixed in version 2.5 which we now carry in Precise. The severity of the issue does not warrant an SRU for oneiric, IMO, so wil
