Well, there are no errors in your gdm logs or X logs that I can see.
The errors in your kernel traces are not listing any graphical
components broken, just showing some error with pccardd. Does that ring
any bells?
Anyway, since there's not evidence so far supporting it being an xorg
bug, I'll bu

I've made some ivestigation.
I reinstalled with Natty than dist-upgrade: same result.
I reinstalled with Oneiric daily dvd: same result.
If I changed from gdm to lightdm, I got the login windows, but
completely frozen as no keyboard or mouse response. I tried with
nomodeset, doesn't count.
