correction to the previous comment, I seem to get symbols correct
afteral, the confusing factor was that the "<>" key between left shift
and space had changed place with the left-top key "§°". Knowing that I
get all symbols I need. Dead keys just don't work as expected, e.g. the

This bug hit's me too with my old powerbook G4 17" with finnish
keyboard. The keyboard is the weird one that mac's ship with. Even I
used xmodmap to make the extra enter key on the right side of the space
and right apple key to be altgr, I only manage get some symbols correct.

This was filed against the wrong driver package. -keyboard is no longer
maintained; keyboards are managed via the -evdev driver now. However
the key layout mapping stuff is handled by xkb-data (aka xkeyboard-
config)

Another possible key to be remaped as AltGr is the one between le right command
and home key in the picture.
This key is totally useless, it's just a second ENTER key.

The "@" is on the "G" key. Under OSX, we print it using ALT+g.
a workaround for me is to remap the Right Command key (apple key) to act
as AltGr
for xmodmap :
clear Mod4
keycode 134 = ISO_Level3_Shift
add Mod4 = Super_L
So tu right

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and making Ubuntu better.
Perhaps your suggestion would be a good idea, although the apple keys have
their own use in Ubuntu as "super" modifiers.
Could you attach a picture of your keyboard, so the developers will know
what they're dealing with?
