Just happened again, screen freezes for 1-2 seconds then goes black. All
keyboards and mouse actions don't work, including RESIUB.
Connected Android phone which did not recognise USB port (other than charge).
As soon as machine was powered off and POSTed it found a computer. Suggests
this is
Having exactly the same problem, also on Thinkpad Edge 13 (model 0221).
Will run over the weekend and when it freezes try to SSH in and report

Title
We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the
original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to
reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against
the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms
also having this during login screen. if i leave it unattended for too
long: blank screen.
btw I have originally assumed it to be a screensaver problem, but I have
disabled screensaver etc, so it cant be a case of not waking up from
screensaver bug...

why is it the flgrx installer now? sorry for beeing a n00b but it is
hard to report a bug to the correct project without knowing the origin
of the problem all I want to see is the bug fixed, happy to answer
questions to help anyone achieve that..

You received this bug notification because
I experienced the bug with both the free and the other driver.
I just press the power button for a few seks, which kills the machine
and start anew... not sure what you mean by whehter I can ssh into the
machine. The moment I have a freeze I cannot do anything
hard to isolate the problem, too
Even though you say this is a bug in the free driver, the logs you
posted are for -fglrx, so it's a bit confused. Please refile the bug
when using only the open source xserver-xorg-video-ati driver. The best
way is to reproduce the freeze and then ssh into the machine and run
'ubuntu-bug xorg'.
@Sebastian, xserver-xorg-video-ati is the free driver.

disagree with the classification of this under ATI since it also
happened with the free driver, not just the proprietary ATI driver
