Aaron, it will help immensely if you filed a new report with Ubuntu by ensuring
you have the package xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for
attaching additional debugging information running the following from a

Daniel Voicu, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an

This issue seems to be present in 12.10 amd64 as well, and makes
dragging windows and selecting text almost impossible running as a
guest OS in virtualbox 4.2.4 r81684 with current virtualbox guest utils.
Kernel modules recompiled on this box without DKMS, as I couldn't get
anything else to work.
This is still present in 12.04. It's definitely an X bug as it is across
other distros as well.
This report has a potential explanation and patch fix but I have no idea
how to apply it to test:

I am having the same problem after deleting maverick and installing natty.
I am using a HP Touchsmart tx2 and originally thought it might be the
touchscreen playing up but after reading other responses it seems it might not
be that. I never mad the probem in maverick and seems to occur in natty o
Hey Daniel,
Hi, have you had a chance to test if this bug is still present in natty?
If it does (and if you're the original reporter), please boot into natty
and run the command:
apport-collect
which will update the bug with fresh logs and tag the bug as affecting
natty. (It is best to run
