Jonas, there might be a duplicate bug report that would be relevant to
your situation. Did you happen to manually edit the menu.lst file while
you were using Jaunty?

Ok, good to know that it solved your touchpad and other issues. That is
curious that update-grub did not update your menu.lst file, but then
again, I have not familiarized myself with the new grub system.

Updating menu.lst solved the problem (and other bugs as well). Somehow
it didn't got updated when I upgraded.
As a side note, "sudo update-grub" does not overwrite menu.lst. I had to
delete it and then update-grub again to make it work. I don't know if
that is what update-grub is supposed to do.
Jonas, I have just noticed something odd. You say that you upgraded to
Karmic (9.10), but your log files say that you are using the Jaunty
(9.04) kernel.
Double-check your /boot/grub/menu.lst file. If you are using Karmic
(9.10), your kernel version should be 2.6.31. If you don't see that
entry
