I don't know exactly how that calculation is done.
But it would be nice to be able to uninstall the Mir packages without it
removing Mesa.

This is no trolling. Mark Shuttleworth announced the abandonment of Mir and
Unity 8.
Is there any reason to still have a dependency?
Maybe it should be changed from required to suggested at least to soften
the dependency.
