I have a delay as well, but could care less because - it works! Also, when I turn off wallpaper and then enable it again, there is a very long delay where I have my gdm wallpaper for about 20 seconds. Everything works normally, then out of nowhere, the compiz wallpaper plugin starts working. Weird.

This bug is the most frustrating kind, since it seems to be completely random. Sometimes, it doesn't happen for days, sometimes it happens within a matter of hours, and it doesn't seem to matter what I have open. I tried the nohz=off trick, but who knows if it worked or not? This is interesting... I upgraded Xorg first but left fglrx alone, and the memory leak is MUCH less significant. I randomly had to restart compiz after running up the memory watching full screen video, and it reset the memory to what it had been when I first booted the computer! So, for me, on a SO
