I have the same problem since I installed Ubuntu 11.04. Almost every time I open the lid of my laptop (computer on, not suspended) the screen freezes. I can tell the processes are still alive but nothing moves in the screen (except the mouse). Usually I switch to a terminal (Ctrl + F1) and restart
